Just my thoughts and ideas

I am a new blogger and I have been inspired by some of the BWE blogs. I hope to learn and share what I learn as I question my relation to the black community and how I define myself as an individual. Some of my main concearns are:

1. The black woman's value and place withing the black community.
2. My identity as a person decended of the freed men and women in the United States.
3. Finding solutions to the issues and problems raised.
4. My interests in music, reading, entertainment and hobbies.

I hope that as I continue to learn and grow I may encourage others as I have been encouraged.

  1. Hi Awake, Alive, Aware :)

This is Elegance from The New Elegant Black woman. Congratulations on the new blog! I look forward to reading it!

Your story above is so moving and so is your blog description. I have noticed the same things you have and there are so many things that I could not have written better myself :) For now I can just say "I agree, I am doing the same thing, and struggling with the same issues".

I got your comment message but I'm not sure how to do the PM thing because I don't want my email posted online to be spammed. There is not Blogger application to do email.

I hope you weren't offended by my response to your last comments. I have heard of Father's Rights groups and they have some valid points. The men I'm talking about are different. If you go to the site http://manboobz.com/ and look at the Boob Roll you will see the sites I was talking about. I have seen YouTube videos by some of the prominent MRA members and the comments that have led me to discredit them. This groups is pure misogyny. If you search for Men's Right's Movement on YouTube you will also find their videos and comments. They scared the wits out of me!

    Take care :)

    1. Hello EBW!

I was not offended at all. :-)

Yeah, it's weird that we can't PM. But oh, well. I just wanted to lend you some support as far as that crazy guy who keeps trolling. Don't let him get to you.

Yeah, I have never heard of that. Weird. I'm honestly afraid to go check it out. The one guy in particular on Youtube seems really decent and he was the one who made me think that there was some sort of positive side to it. There are some Father's Rights groups who I don't think are what you would call MRA's and I think they have a debate anyway as to what it means. For the most part, it seems to be a direct reciprocation of Feminism. As I have seen few who are interested in stating otherwise, I tend to stay away from it. I'm all for defending another persons dignity but not if they don't defend mine, ya know?

Please let me know if I can help in anyway with anything. Keep the good stuff coming!

Thanks for the congrats and I look forward to reading more from you as well.

  2. Hi Jae :)

Okay great. Yes spare yourself the trauma of visiting those sites because I was shaken by them. I can't even describe how vile and shocking it is to hear such vitriol against ALL women just because they are women. I love horror movies but they aren't real and these men are! You would notice a definite difference between these guys and the other one's you mentioned immediately.

The trolls will come. I delete them or mark them as spam. Sometimes I don't even read them. It's just safer for my mind to not read them. I had men's rights in my tags so I removed that so maybe they won't find me. Thanks so much. Yes, I don't make much effort to defend people who don't defend me either but I don't mind sometimes talking about ideas that I think are good.

See you around the net and I'll come for a visit :)

    Sincerely,

    Elegance
